2010 Polk County Emergency Coordinator = Chris KC9NVV
Simulated Emergency Test (SET) 2010
October 2, 2010 - Chuck WD9GWG operates from his home QTH during the Simulated Emergency Test on Saturday morning. This annual event gives ham radio operators a chance to use their communications skills during a "simulated" emergency. This year, the test required hams to have emergency power capabilities as all commercial power was "unavailable" to northern Wisconsin counties. Chuck's ham shack was 100% operational on emergency power provided by a gas generator. HF, VHF, UHF and Winlink2000 RMS Packet Radio were all used during the SET. Photo: Greg N9CHA

The HF Net Control Operator was Rick W9WS. All HF communications for NW Wisconsin were handled through the N9XH station shown above.

The SET began about 9:00am and was called to action by Mike. Several PCARA members checked in and participated in the SET. Photo: Rick W9WS
